The Maritime Educational Training Center (METC)

The Maritime Educational Training Center is a structural unit of the Maritime Academy of the educational institution of higher education «Caspian State University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh.Yessenov».

METC organizes activities in the field of additional professional education for the training and training of students and students of training courses and advanced training of specialists in sea and river transport, as well as for training in marine workers.

METC provides educational services for coastal and shipping companies to conduct courses that are not related to convention training.

This Regulation defines the status and organization of the METC, its relationship with the Academy, the University on the planning, organization and control of the educational process in the field of simulator training and additional vocational training.

 

Tasks

1) Meeting the needs of shipping companies of Kazakhstan’s fleet for highly qualified marine specialists with professional education in accordance with the requirements of international and national mandatory norms (Conventions and Codes, guiding documents of the IMO and the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan).

2) Training of students of the Academy and College of the University.

3) Training, retraining and advanced training of marine specialists of water transport of command and ordinary personnel.

4) Conducting educational activities on simulator training by organizing courses, lectures, practical exercises in accordance with work programs.

5) Conducting exams, tests, professional testing and other forms of testing the knowledge of students.

6) Design and development of training tools, manuals, materials and tools, including software tools, for high-quality and effective training of specialists.

7) Preparation for all types of examination of training courses in order to obtain licenses, certificates and certificates for the right to conduct this type of activity by the University and the Academy.

8) In educational work conducted among students of the Academy.

9) Improving the quality of simulator training, developing the personnel potential of water transport specialists.

10) Creating conditions for self-realization and self-development of the listener’s personality.

11) Cooperation with other marine training centers, including foreign ones, in terms of exchange of experience and information on issues of their activities.

12) Development and strengthening of the material and technical base of the METC, improvement of the educational process, introduction of progressive norms and means of training, equipping the METC with the latest training equipment.

13) Conducting research work related to solving urgent problems and tasks of the marine industry.

 

Provides educational services for training courses in accordance with the requirements of «The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers» (IC STCW) in the following areas:

– Fire control under the extended program;

– Preparation for an extended program for cargo operations on chemical tankers;

– Preparation of an extended program for cargo operations on oil tankers;

– Initial preparation;

– Initial preparation for cargo operations on oil tankers and chemical tankers;

– Preparation for cargo operations on oil tankers under the extended program;

– Preparation for cargo operations on chemical tankers under the extended program;

– Management and human behavior in critical situations;

– Initial preparation for vessels operating in polar waters;

– Advanced program training for vessels operating in polar waters;

– Radio operator of the Global Maritime Disaster and Safety Communications System;

– Medical care on the ship;

– Provision of first aid on the vessel;

– Specialist in high-speed duty boats;

– Specialist in lifeboats and rafts and duty boats which are not high-speed duty boats;

– Safety of passengers and cargo, as well as waterproofness of the hull;

– Radio operator of the Global Maritime Disaster Communication System and to ensure the safety of a limited navigation area;

– Radio operator of the Global Maritime Disaster and Safety Communications System;

– Training in the field of ship security awareness;

– Training in the field of assigned security duties;

– Training of the vessel commanding personnel responsible for security;

– Fire safety and fire fighting.

 

Provides educational services in the field of additional vocational education in the following working professions:

– watch sailor;

– watch motorman;

– ship electrician;

– qualified sailor;

– qualified motorman.
